Expanded Deer Valley

On September 4, 2023, Deer Valley publicly confirmed the worst kept secret in Park City that East Village will be integrated into Deer Valley. The combined total is a whopping 5,726 acres, 238 runs, 37 chairlifts, spread over ten mountains in Utah's acclaimed Wasatch back. The development of the new Deer Vakket East Village ski area and portal, in partnership with Extell Development Company, will improve access to the resort for day skiers while also providing vacationers with even more world-class lodging, dining, and retail experiences.

Also in the works is a reimagined, pedestrian-friendly Snow Park base village that will take the current 15 acres of surface parking and transform them into a modern and accessible resort base. This new village will feature a state-of-the-art transit hub, expansive slope-side access, sophisticated accommodations, and après-ski experiences.

  1. What will the East Village at Deer Valley include?
    • The Village is planned to have several restaurants, a ski school, including children’s programs, an ice-skating facility and the largest “ski beach” in North America. Upon completion, the New Village and Portal area will include nearly 1,700 residential units, 800 hotel rooms across multiple properties, 250,000-square-feet of retail and commercial space, and 68,000-square-feet for recreation.  
  2. How will guests access Deer Valley through East Village?
    • Guests will now be able to access Deer Valley through the Village by an alternate arrival option to Deer Valley via U.S. Route 40 with 1,200 new day skier parking spaces and promises to not only elevate the arrival experience but also ease traffic flow within Park City. East Village is approximately 40 minutes from the Salt Lake City Internation.
  3. What's included in the Deer Valley Resort terrain expansion?
    • Upon completion, Deer Valley skiers will enjoy a New Village and Portal with a skier services facility, complete with ski school, children’s programs, rentals, and retail, plus 3,700 acres of new skiable terrain, a new on-mountain lodge with Deer Valley operated food & beverage outlets, and additional day-skier parking. 
  4. How much terrain will be added at full build out?
    • Upon completion, Deer Valley’s current 2,026 acres of skiable terrain spread across six mountains will expand by 3,700 acres and four mountains, encompassing a total of 5,726 acres spread across 10 mountains. This skiable terrain will be accessed by 37 chairlifts serving 238 ski runs, more than doubling the resort’s size and making Deer Valley one of the largest ski resorts in North America.
  5. When will the new terrain be open?
    • Approximately 2,900 acres of skiable terrain, featuring 110 ski runs serviced by 9 lifts (including a 10-passenger gondola), is scheduled to open for the 25/26 winter season. The additional 800 acres, 7 lifts and 25 ski runs will follow in future seasons, with an exact timeline yet to be determined.
  6. What type of terrain will be available in the expansion?
    • The new 3,700 acres of skiable terrain sits between 6,450 and 9,350 feet in elevation. Boasting nearly a 3,000 vertical drop from the highest point on Park Peak at 9,350 feet, the mostly north-facing slopes will offer skiing for all abilities across 135 planned ski runs, including several wide-open bowls and glade areas.
  7. Will Deer Valley manage the East Village terrain and infrasture?
    • The new terrain will fully integrate into Deer Valley’s trail map and mountain operations, including snow grooming, ski patrol, ski school, rentals, retail and food & beverage facilities.
  8. Is the East Village terrain ski only?
    • Yes, the East Village terrain will be a part of Deer Valley’s overall skiable acreage and trail map, offering access to skiers only.   
  9. Will Deer Valley's new skier services facility be open for the 25/26. winter season?
    • The facility is currently projected for a 26/27 opening; however, this timeline could change. Temporary facilities may be used until fully completed.
