In the heart of Canyons at Park City Mountain Resort, an exciting development is taking shape: The Sunrise Gondola Project. This initiative, currently in its preliminary planning phase, proposes to replace the existing Sunrise chairlift with a state-of-the-art 10-person gondola, subject to approvals and permitting by Summit County.
The envisioned gondola, spanning 6,500 feet, will have its base terminal strategically positioned next to Pendry Park City and The Lift. Its final stop will be in the scenic Red Pine area. This new route is designed to be less wind-sensitive, significantly minimizing weather-related disruptions in the Canyons Village base area.
The Sunrise Gondola Project is set to enhance the overall circulation within the Canyons Village base area, aiming to cut down wait times. The new gondola will offer direct ski-in ski-out access to the Red Pine area, ensuring easy resort-wide access for The Pendry, The Lift, Vintage on the Strand, and Hyatt Centric.
Canyons Village is a haven for luxury living with its ski-in ski-out opulent homes, sophisticated condos, and upscale townhomes. It’s one of the two gateways to Park City Mountain Ski Resort, affectionately known as “PCMR” by locals. With its sprawling 7,300 acres and 155 miles of ski trails, PCMR proudly stands as one of North America’s most extensive ski resorts.
The heart of Canyons Village is a hub of activity. Here, riders ascend from the impressive condos to the vast expanse of Park City Mountain Resort via lifts. It’s a one-stop-shop for skiers, bikers, and hikers to purchase lift tickets, rent gear, and gather information. For those seeking relaxation or simply wanting to bask in one of Park City’s 300 sunny days, The Village offers a ski beach, the Umbrella Bar, a variety of dining options nestled within the condo towers, and shops for clothing or equipment.
The Sunrise chairlift will continue its winter operations until the installation of the Sunrise Gondola is complete, subject to approvals. The construction will adhere to Summit County and CVMA building codes and regulations. The project is anticipated to improve mountain access for lodging guests, day skiers, and snowboarders, enhancing the overall mountain experience.
